Theatre BC invites applications for its three annual scholarships named for three of Theatre BC’s pioneers who dedicated much of their lives to community theatre in British Columbia.
The Jessie Richardson and the Sid Williams scholarships are awarded annually to applicants who have been accepted by a recognized Canadian theatre school or post-secondary theatre department. Grade 12 students who have been accepted into a program are welcome to apply for these awards. Applicants or their parents must be current members of Theatre BC. The Mien Van Heek scholarship is awarded to an applicant who is entering their senior years of a program in stage craft that is technical or design-related. Once again the applicant must be a current member of Theatre BC. Just a reminder, that these scholarships can be deferred until September 2021, particularly as we understand the uncertainty of education opportunities reopening for September 2020. The deadline for applications for these 3 scholarships is May 31, 2020 and Theatre BC will announce the recipients of these scholarships through the Theatre BC website, and the Theatre BC Facebook page in June. The applications can be found on the Theatre BC website, https://theatrebc.org/awards-scholarships/ Welcome back from Spring Break! With all that is going on it was determined this morning by Senior Leadership that we would extend the District Scholarship deadline to April 30, 2020. We will be discussing the presentations, and how we will make this work in coming days and will update you as soon as we have a plan in place.
